Plant Engineer
CMS Recruitment are seeking a Plant/Construction Engineer to join our client based in Carlisle. If you are a skilled and motivated engineer with experience of working on construction and plant machinery then this role is for you!
Main Role: To diagnose technical problems and carry out service, repair, testing and PDI activities within their relevant sectors (Agricultural & Construction Machinery).
Key Responsbilities & Role Overview: Carry out Service, Repair, PDI and Thorough Examinations
- Carry out the above activities as are specified on the relevant schedule.
- Ensure all scheduled work is carried out and the time taken, parts and consumables used are documented.
- Report any faults or problems found outside of the scheduled work and seek authorisation to proceed with rectification work if appropriate.
- Complete such activities within designated time frames.
- Where necessary, complete such work at a customer’s premise.
Diagnose, Report and Rectify Machinery Faults and Problems
- Carry out such activities utilising department diagnostic and analytical methods and equipment with support from manufacturer systems if appropriate.
- Seeking advice from Service Management or the relevant manufacturer if a fault cannot bediagnosed.
- Report cause and effect of problems and ascertain the estimated cost to repair to seek authorisation to proceed with the work and ordering parts (if needed).
- Ensure that all activities are carried out within the departmental, business, manufacturer and safety parameters.
- Ensure all relevant systems and documents are completed in a timely manner.
Deliver Quality Work in a Safe and Efficient Way
- Ensure all work that is carried out is within given safety standards, using specialist tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Ensure that the working environment is kept clean and tidy throughout all jobs and removed parts and consumables are disposed of appropriately.
- Ensure that all work on customer premises is carried out in a safe and efficient manner and that all safety protocols and adhered to.
- Report any areas of concern within the working environment and any safeguarding issues.
- Quality check all completed work to ensure it has been completed to the highest standard.
- Ensure that all personal tools are adequate and fit for purpose.
- Ensure all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner, and within allocated timeframes.
Administration
- Complete all job cards in a precise and timely manner, along with the relevant time sheets and submit them to the Service office.
- Keep up to date with manufacturer guidelines on necessary paperwork and documentation.
- Ensure all warranty information is correct and submitted in a timely manner to the Warranty Department.
Continuous Professional Development
- Attend manufacturer and in-house training courses, seminars and briefings.
- Be aware of new products and technical diagnostics methods via bulletins, information sheets and machinery manuals.
- Utilise technical advice from specialists as required and incorporate learnt methods and knowledge into personal working competences.
- Remain aware of changes in Health and Safety practices and attend regular Tool Box talks.
Health and Safety
- Promote the cleanliness of the workshop and instil pride into the working environment.
- Make sure that all Health and Safety rules are being observed and are correct where necessary.
- Ensure that all equipment is suitable for use and report any issues to the Service Manager.
- Promote positive working practices.
Requirements:
- Has completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship and/or holds certified qualifications in the servicing and repair of machinery.
- Has previous experience in the plant/construction machinery sector.
- Is a proactive team player who can also work independently.
- Can handle pressure and manage deadlines.
- Is IT literate and comfortable using internal systems.
- Has strong communication skills and a professional approach.
